The Insurance Council of New Zealand Te Kāhui Inihua o Aotearoa’s (ICNZ) is the industry organisation representing fire and general insurers in Aotearoa New Zealand.

ICNZ comprises 23 companies and 4 associate members that write around 95% of Aotearoa New Zealand’s general insurance business. Its members protect over $2 trillion of New Zealander’s assets and in the last year its members paid over $4 billion in claims.

ICNZ’s Annual Conference will take place on Tuesday, 4 March, at Auckland’s Aotea Centre.

This event will bring together industry leaders, regulators, and commentators to explore key opportunities and challenges facing our industry. The theme of the conference is Getting Resilience Right and will address critical industry issues such as the Government’s priorities, climate change, regulation, building industry trust and getting insurance right for customers.

The conference also provides an opportunity for those in the industry to connect and catch up with others across the sector. We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an insightful and informative day.

Conference theme

Getting resilience right - The extreme North Island weather events in early 2023 are a stark reminder of New Zealand’s vulnerability to natural disasters and we’re inviting the Government to set out their priorities in a fiscally constrained world.

Our conference will examine the impact of climate change and building for an appropriate level of resilience to protect lives and property and reduce risk. We will also explore the regulatory environment and how to ensure the industry is strong and sustainable.

This event will look at how technology can help respond to major events and we’ll also delve into the critical issues of building industry trust and reputation and how the industry is getting insurance right for its customers.

“Awesome event, one of the highlights on my work calendar each year”
